I read that:
In Alabama it is illegal to recommend shades of paint without a license. In Nevada it is illegal to move any large piece of furniture for purposes of design without a license. In fact, hundreds of people have been prosecuted in Alabama and Nevada for practicing "interior design" without a license.
Believe it or not, the pro-licensing crowd (but not these folks) actually makes a public health and safety argument. Perhaps you can get cross-eyed by looking at the wrong wallpaper.
Next question: what about lawyers? I'm not sure there's much difference. See, e.g., this paper, and here, among other places.
